Supporting Parents at Amber Family

Along with the Local Authority and other professionals, Amber Family will work with parents to assess their parenting capacity. The 13-week placement considers the parents' ability to respond to their children’s needs, promote their welfare, and safeguard them now and in the future.

While living at Amber Family, parents are initially observed undertaking basic care tasks for their child. For example, staff will observe parents making bottles, changing nappies, and bathing and provide emotional support and interaction. Our fully trained staff will always help and provide advice and guidance if parents are unsure.

Just before the end of their placement, Amber Family will provide an honest, fair, robust, court standard Parenting Assessment to assist the Local Authority with future care planning.
